World Wide Playdate was nominated for a Grammy® Award in the Best Children’s Music Category!
Congrats to all of the nominees in this year’s Best Children’s Music Category. I am honored to be recognized alongside the amazing artists in this category who have dedicated their talent to enriching the lives of young people.
World Wide Playdate is an album full of songs that uplift, empower, and inspire while emphasizing the power of play. Play is important to our social emotional development as people and now more than ever we can all use the benefits of play. The National Institute for Play says that “play is the solution to our harried anxiety-creating lives.”

World Wide Playdate was conceived with the idea that play deserves a soundtrack that connects us all to our happy place. And what’s more fun than a PLAYDATE with friends? I invited some of my favorite friends to join me on this playdate and together we laughed and danced while making this album. One of the highlights for me was inviting my niece’s cheer team from Genesis Innovation Academy in Atlanta to join me in the infamous Tree Sound Studios in Atlanta to enhance the music and messages on the album. I hope you find as much joy in this music as we have and that you share it with others.
“I believe that there is power in play. I grew up in a time when we played outside, used our imaginations, and came up with games that taught us how to resolve conflict, how to socialize with one another, and how to make new friends. We were active and always looking to play. When I think about it, I play music for a living, so I am always in some state of play.” – Divinty Roxx “Bass Empire Magazine 2024”

The playdate extended into the recording studio where Divinity invited colleagues and friends from all over to collaborate. Notable features include Tarriona “Tank” Ball from Tank and the Bangaa, Mumu Fresh, Divinity’s longtime mentor and 5-time Grammy award-winning bass virtuoso Victor Wooten, Malcolm Jamal Warner, and Nigerian-born artist, Teemanay. The Atlanta-based Genesis Innovation Academy Cheer Team brought the energy on backing vocals and her niece and Goddaughter joined the playdate as well.
Divinity collaborated with producer Wayne Gerard (Don Was, Dr. Fink) to bring her vision to life. Then she linked with hit songwriter Mary Brown (Destiny’s Child, Mary J Blige, Michael Jackson) to co-write on the album and sing backing vocals. The three teamed up to produce the entire album, making for an unstoppable stream of back-to-back bangers that you can’t get out of your head.
